The name Energy Corridor is defined by the powerful energy companies that are here, including Exxonhouston_neighborhoods_280 Mobile and Shell Oil Company.  It extends from I-10/Katy frwy, along Memorial Drive, west of Beltway 8, along Eldridge Parkway to Grand Parkway in Katy. It is a fast growing area and growth is expected to increase.

Because of the international companies that are here, there are a large amount of expatriates from all over the world. Private schools in the area include the British School of Houston, Yorkshire Academy which also has a British Curriculum equivalent , The Awty International School which offers the  International Baccalaureate or the French Baccalauréat and more recently a  Dutch curriculum from PK4 (Dutch group 1) through 12th grade. Other top private schools close by in the Memorial area are Duchesne Academy which is a girls only catholic school and The Kincaid School which is a non-sectarian school for both sexes.

Hershey Park is a 500 acre park with great bike/hike and jogging trails. Some compare the bike trails to being in Austin because there are actually hills, something just not found in Houston.

The Energy Corridor District was recently selected by the National Park Service's Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program to receive planning assistance for the West Houston Trail System.Through this partnership, the National Park Service and Energy Corridor District will continue to develop and improve trails throughout the area.

Some of the best subdivisions include Lakes of Parkway and Parkway Plaza (77077), neighborhoods off west Memorial include Nottingham Forest, Thornwood, Wilchester, and Westchester (77079 zip code)
